I have a bunch of stuff I want to or should be posting about, but. Busy. (And I need to write a new, but short, GCS column TOMORROW, JILLIAN, so I can post it on Tuesday.)

So anyway, here, have some photos from today's "working on projects" day with Thea:

Dear Steampunks,

The Victorian Goths are TAKING BACK THE TOP HATS.

OpenID and Livejournal

[personal profile] fifty_fifty posting in [community profile] getting_started

I have been using OpenID in order to comment on LJ communities as I don't want to have an LJ account for obvious reasons.

I used to be able to log in just fine and post comments and create posts etc. But I recently got a new computer and went to log in and comment and it told me I needed to validate my email address. So I clicked through to a link and then clicked the link that was in the email that LiveJournal sent to my email address.

When I click this link in the validation email, it takes me to a page titled:

"Please, verify that you are human"
When you submit the form an invisible reCAPTCHA check will be performed.
You must follow the Privacy Policy and Google Terms of use.

Then there's a continue button to click on. I click the page and it looks like it's doing something, but it takes me back to the same page again and I remain unverified and now unable to comment or post on any communities.

Any ideas as to how I can get LJ to actually verify the email address for my OpenID account? Thanks!

Oh hey, I haven't posted in a while, have I?

- The Interview with the Vampire screening at MoPop was wonderful. I hadn't seen it on the big screen since it was released!

- Work is work. The super-close deadline was pushed out by two weeks, Yay! The actual deadline was pushed up by two weeks, WTF BOO! Actually, there are good reasons for the actual deadline to be pushed up, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

- Went to the zoo over the weekend with some wonderful friends. My beloved red panda was waaaaaay up in a tree, snoozing, and wouldn't come down no matter how much I beseeched and made flaily hands. But at least I got to see his cute face as he sleepily groomed his fluffy tail.

- Speaking of cute faces, Vlad has been extra needy, and has taken to standing on my office chair (did I mention I have a standing desk now?), and gently patting my hip when I'm not paying attention to him. On the one hand, it's adorable. On the other hand, I wish his sister liked him right now. (She doesn't. She Very Much Doesn't.)

- OMG IT'S MY FAVORITE MONTH! THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO DO! Which means I'm super-busy and kind of tired, but it's worth it. Not to mention it's our 20th wedding anniversary at the end of the month. :D

Epiploic appendagitis

I just returned from a week in San Francisco, where I intended to relax at my brother's house and catch some of the LitQuake events.

Unfortunately, Saturday I started feeling pretty bad pain in my lower right abdomen.  By Sunday it was really bad, and my googling of symptoms said "appendicitis, surgery probable".  So I went to the Sutter Health ER.  Four hours and a CT scan later, diagnosed with epiploic appendagitis.  Basically there's some fatty tissue around the appendix that gets twisted around, and pain!  Not appendicitis though.  This cures itself after 3-4 days.  So I left with some painkillers.

But that pretty much meant I was laying up in the house until Wednesday. I did catch the Nasty Women reading event at Bookshop West Portal last night, so the week wasn't a complete bust.
